Arab Athletes Add 36 Medals on Day 13 of Taranto 2026
The day produced 17 golds, eight silvers and 11 bronzes, with Algeria leading the charge with 12 medals, followed by Egypt and Morocco with 10 each.
The Arab medal haul continued to grow on Day 13 of the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, with 36 medals won across Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Syria.
There were also standout individual performances, with Kaylia Nemour and Sara Ahmed each winning two golds, while Karim Abokahla and Faris Touairi both finished the day with a gold and a bronze.
2 Golds: Kaylia Nemour, Algeria
Women’s Uneven Bars & Balance Beam
Kaylia Nemour added two more gold medals to her Taranto campaign, winning both the uneven bars and balance beam finals.
The Olympic uneven bars champion dominated her signature event with a 15.500, finishing ahead of Italy’s Sofia Tonelli and Artemisia Iorfino. She then completed her day with another gold on beam, scoring 13.300.
The two victories came just a day after Nemour won the women’s individual all-around title with 57.750 points, meaning she finished Day 13 with three individual gold medals from her gymnastics programme.
2 Golds: Sara Samir, Egypt
Women’s 77kg Weightlifting, Snatch & Clean & Jerk
Sara Ahmed delivered another standout performance for Egypt, winning both halves of the women’s 77kg weightlifting competition.
She took gold in the snatch with 110kg, before matching that success in the clean and jerk with 137kg.
Her two victories came as Egypt continued to dominate the weightlifting programme, giving Ahmed two individual gold medals from the same category on the final day of competition.
Gold & Bronze: Karim Abokahla, Egypt
Men’s 95kg Weightlifting, Clean & Jerk & Snatch
Karim Abokahla was one of the day’s double-medallists, producing a gold-and-bronze combination in the men’s 95kg category.
He first took bronze in the snatch with 164kg, finishing behind Algeria’s Faris Touairi and Kianoush Rostami.
Abokahla then turned the tables in the clean and jerk, lifting 204kg to win gold, narrowly finishing ahead of Rostami’s 203kg. Touairi took bronze with 195kg.
That made Abokahla one of only two Arab weightlifters on Day 13 to collect medals in both lifts.
Gold: Hana Goda, Egypt
Women’s Singles Table Tennis
Hana Goda capped her table tennis campaign with gold in the women’s singles.
The Egyptian star defeated Monaco’s Xiaoxin Yang 4–1 in the final, securing another major Mediterranean Games title.
Goda had already collected silver in the mixed doubles alongside Omar Assar, making her one of Egypt’s standout table tennis performers in Taranto.

Men’s +84kg Kumite
Taha Mahmoud claimed Egypt’s gold in the men’s +84kg karate final, edging Croatia’s Anđelo Kvesić 4–3 after recovering from a 3–1 deficit.
The victory completed the final day of the karate programme, with Egypt finishing at the top of the discipline’s medal table.
Gold: Mehdi Bouloussa, Algeria
Men’s Singles Table Tennis
Mehdi Bouloussa secured Algeria’s men’s singles table tennis gold after defeating Egypt’s Youssef Ahmed 4–2 in the final.
Bouloussa had already beaten France’s Léo De Nodrest 4–3 in a tightly contested semifinal before completing his run to the title.

Men’s 10,000m
Said Ameri won the men’s 10,000m in 28:31.26, setting a personal best in the process.
The Algerian finished ahead of Morocco’s Mustapha Akkaoui and Hicham Ouladha, giving Algeria another athletics gold on Day 13.
Gold: Yasser Triki, Algeria
Men’s Triple Jump
Yasser Triki added another Algerian athletics gold with a winning jump of 16.97m in the men’s triple jump.
The result added to Algeria’s strong showing in the athletics programme on Day 13.
Gold & Bronze: Faris Touairi, Algeria
Men’s 95kg Weightlifting, Snatch & Clean & Jerk
Faris Touairi also collected two medals in the men’s 95kg category.
He won the snatch with 169kg, beating Kianoush Rostami’s 166kg, before taking bronze in the clean and jerk with 195kg.
With Abokahla winning the clean and jerk and taking bronze in the snatch, the two weightlifters effectively shared the top two spots across the two disciplines.
Gold: Aymen Touairi, Algeria
Men’s 110kg Weightlifting, Clean & Jerk
Aymen Touairi won gold in the men’s 110kg clean and jerk after lifting 209kg.
He edged Spain’s Marcos Ruiz, who lifted 208kg, while Syria’s Hamza Alasad Hallak took bronze with 191kg.
Gold: Hamza Hossaini, Morocco
Men’s Vault
Hamza Hossaini won Morocco’s men’s artistic gymnastics vault title with a score of 14.025.
He finished ahead of Italy’s Tommaso Brugnami, who scored 13.900, and Türkiye’s Alperen Ege Avci.
Gold: Salah Eddine Ben Yazide, Morocco
Men’s 3000m Steeplechase
Salah Eddine Yazide led a Moroccan one-two in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, winning in 8:46.14.
Teammate Mohamed Tindouft followed with 8:46.58, while Algeria’s Omar Seraiche took bronze in 8:47.31.
Gold: Ismail Manyani, Morocco
Men’s 400m Hurdles
Ismail Manyani took gold in the men’s 400m hurdles in 48.87, finishing ahead of Türkiye’s Ismail Nezir and Berke Akcam.
It was one of Morocco’s key athletics victories on a day that also saw the country claim gold in the 200m and 3000m steeplechase.
Gold: Yassine Hssine, Morocco
Men’s 200m
Yassine Hssine won the men’s 200m in 19.94, finishing ahead of Italy’s Filippo Dezza and France’s Theo Schaub.
The result added another sprint gold to Hssine’s Taranto campaign after he had already won the men’s 100m earlier in the Games.
Gold: Mehdi Sriti, Morocco
Men’s -84kg Kumite
Mehdi Sriti won Morocco’s men’s -84kg karate gold after defeating Libya’s Mohamed Abudabous 5–1 in the final.
Sriti had earlier beaten Albania’s Milos Gashi 4–0 in the semifinal, completing a dominant run through the final day of the karate programme.
Silver: Youssef Ahmed, Egypt
Men’s Singles Table Tennis
Youssef Ahmed took silver in the men’s singles after reaching the final against Algeria’s Mehdi Bouloussa.
Ahmed ultimately fell 4–2, but his run gave Egypt a second singles table tennis medal alongside Hana Goda’s women’s gold.

Men’s Pommel Horse
Omar Elshobki won silver in the men’s pommel horse with a score of 13.950, finishing behind Spain’s Ignacio Yockers.
It was another Egyptian gymnastics podium on a busy final day for the discipline.

Men’s -84kg Kumite
Mohamed Abudabous took silver after reaching the final of the men’s -84kg karate tournament.
The Libyan lost 5–1 to Morocco’s Mehdi Sriti but still secured one of Libya’s standout results of the Games.
Silver: Mustapha Akkaoui, Morocco
Men’s 10,000m
Mustapha Akkaoui finished second in the men’s 10,000m in 28:38.50, behind Algeria’s Said Ameri.
The result gave Morocco both the silver and bronze in the event, with Hicham Ouladha finishing third.

Women’s 1500m
Souad Elhaddad took silver in the women’s 1500m with a time of 4:08.51, finishing just behind Portugal’s Patrícia Cabral Da Silva, who won in 4:08.41.

Men’s 3000m Steeplechase
Mohamed Tindouft followed teammate Salah Eddine Yazide across the line to claim silver in 8:46.58, completing a Moroccan one-two in the event.

Morocco also secured silver in the men’s 4x400m relay, adding another team podium to its Day 13 haul.

Men’s 110kg Weightlifting, Snatch
Aymen Bacha took silver in the men’s 110kg snatch after lifting 176kg.
He finished behind Spain’s Marcos Ruiz, who lifted 185kg, and ahead of Italy’s Simone Abati.

Men’s Rings
Omar Mohamed took bronze in the men’s rings with 13.850, finishing level on score with Italy’s Niccolò Vannucchi but losing out on the higher execution score.
The result gave Egypt another artistic gymnastics medal on the final day.

Men’s -84kg Kumite
Youssef BA won bronze in the men’s -84kg karate competition after defeating Cyprus’ Loizos Vasileiou 8–0 in the bronze-medal bout.

Omar Seraiche completed the podium behind the two Moroccan leaders, running 8:47.31 for bronze.

Women’s Hammer Throw
Zahra Tatar threw 66.88m to take bronze in the women’s hammer throw.
The event was won by Italy’s Sara Fantini with 73.03m, with Spain’s Laura Redondo taking silver.

Men’s -84kg Kumite
Falleh Midoune claimed bronze in the men’s -84kg karate category after a 2–2 draw against Albania’s Milos Gashi, with Midoune taking the medal through the Senshu tiebreak.

Men’s +84kg Kumite
Hocine Daikhi secured bronze in the men’s +84kg category after defeating Albania’s Blodin Pakashtica 5–2 in the bronze-medal bout.

Hicham Ouladha completed Morocco’s sweep of the 10,000m podium places behind Said Ameri and Mustapha Akkaoui, crossing in 28:56.64.

Women’s Lightweight Double Sculls
Tunisia’s Salma Dhaouadi and Khadija Krimi won bronze in the women’s lightweight double sculls in 7:21.69.
The Tunisian pair finished behind Italy and Greece in a field featuring athletes who had recently competed at world level.
Bronze: Hamza Hallak, Syria
Men’s 110kg Weightlifting, Clean & Jerk
Hamza Hallak gave Syria a bronze in the men’s 110kg clean and jerk after lifting 191kg. He finished behind Algeria’s Aymen Touairi and Spain’s Marcos Ruiz.
