10 More Arab Medals on Day 10 of the Mediterranean Games

Algeria are Mediterranean Games champions once again. The U21 side defeated Tunisia 2–0 in the final at Taranto's Erasmo Iacovone Stadium, securing Algeria's second football gold at the Games after their 1975 triumph in Algiers.

The result was also a particularly painful one for Tunisia, who had to settle for silver after making it all the way to the final.

Yassine Hssine became the fastest man in Taranto, winning the men's 100m in 10.31 seconds. Italy's Eric Marek finished second in 10.41, while Slovenia's Anej Curin Prapotnik took bronze in 10.43.

The win adds another major result to Hssine's breakout season. Earlier this year, he became the first Moroccan to break 20 seconds for the 200m at the national championships.

Fatima Ezzahra Birdaha opened Morocco's golden athletics session by winning the women's 5000m in 15:07.40. She broke away from the field and finished more than 14 seconds ahead of Italy's Micol Majori, who took silver in 15:21.86. Türkiye's Ceylan Yıldız completed the podium.

The performance was also a personal best for Birdaha and marked Morocco's first Mediterranean Games gold in the women's 5000m.

Morocco's Younes Lalami Laaroussi and Yassine Dlimi completed the country's golden run in the men's doubles tennis final.

The Moroccan pair defeated Spain's Alejandro Martí Pijolras and Alejo Sánchez Quílez 7–5, 6–4 to take the title. They had reached the final after edging Cyprus' Melios Efstathiou and Eleftherios Neos in a three-set semifinal, 6–7, 7–5, 12–10.

Tunisia's U21 side finished runners-up after losing 2–0 to Algeria in the football final. Algeria went ahead before the break and added a second goal after half-time to secure the title.

Tunisia's silver nevertheless capped a run to the final in a tournament where the North African rivals met with the Mediterranean title on the line.

Tarek Hocine leapt 8.03m to take bronze in the men's long jump, finishing behind Italy's Francesco Inzoli and Croatia's Filip Pravdica. The mark also set a new personal best for the Algerian, surpassing his previous 7.98m.

The result adds another major international podium to a breakthrough season for Hocine, who continues to establish himself among Algeria's leading long jumpers.

Kaylia Nemour, Djenna Laroui, Lena Khenoun, Lana Hamames-Maollic and Sihem Hamidi finished third in the women's team competition with 151.700 points, behind Italy's 157.750 and Spain's 155.900.

Olympic champion Kaylia Nemour was the standout name for Algeria, posting a 55.800 all-around score during the competition despite a fall on the uneven bars. Djenna Laroui was also among Algeria's leading performers, finishing sixth in the all-around qualification with 47.200.

In tennis, Diae El Jardi and Younes Lalami Laaroussi fought back from a semifinal loss to Spain's Lucía Cortez Llorca and Alejo Sánchez Quílez to claim mixed-doubles bronze.

The Moroccan pair beat Portugal's Francisco Rocha and Madalena Matias in a deciding match, winning 6–7, 7–5, 10–7 after dropping the opening set. They had reached the semifinals after defeating Greece's Martha Matoula and Giannis Xilas in the quarterfinals.

Morocco's U20 side took bronze after dismantling hosts Italy 4–1 in the third-place match. The result gave Morocco a podium finish after their semifinal defeat to eventual champions Algeria, which came via a penalty shootout following a 1–1 draw.

The bronze caps a strong tournament for Morocco's young side, who had already reached the last four after a competitive run through the men's football tournament.

Morocco also made the equestrian podium in the team jumping competition, adding another bronze to an already packed Day 10.

The result underlined Morocco's strength in show jumping, a discipline where the country arrived in Taranto with several experienced international riders. Abdelkabir Ouaddar, Ali Al Ahrach, Abdeldeslam Bennani Smires and El Ghali Bouqatef were among Morocco's leading names in the discipline.
